Rajac 2026

Kosidba na Rajcu is a traditional event held since 1892, on the first Sunday after Petrovdan. It brings together mowers dressed in traditional peasant attire who compete in hand-mowing grass on prepared plots. In addition to the competition, the program includes an exhibition of mowing tools, folk performances, and cultural activities, creating a unique atmosphere and preserving folk tradition.

The competition takes place on plots measuring 20 × 6 meters, which the mowers cut in two swaths. Mowing is judged on speed and quality, and the winner receives an award. Mowers must bring their own mowing equipment and wear the required traditional attire. The program also includes an exhibition of tools, folk performances, and a concert by a brass band. Events include traditional activities, hiking tours, and trail-marking courses, with a focus on preserving and promoting the natural and cultural values of Rajac.
