Balkan Mountain and Trail Running Championships

The first Balkan Mountain and Trail Running Championships will take place from July 2 to 4, 2026, in Tara National Park and Bajina Bašta, Serbia. The competition features four races: Mountain Uphill, Mountain Classic, Mountain Trail, and U18 Mountain Classic, bringing together the best mountain runners in the Balkans. The varied and challenging courses offer spectacular scenery and technical climbs, providing a true challenge and an opportunity to enjoy nature. The organizers are the Balkan Mountaineering Union, the Mountaineering Association of Serbia, Tara Ultra Trail, and Mountaineering Club Tara. We invite all runners to join us and celebrate mountain and trail running in the heart of Serbia.

The races are for runners born in 2008 or earlier for Mountain Uphill and Mountain Classic, while Mountain Trail is for runners born in 2006 or earlier. Mountain Uphill is the only race that neither starts at Rača Monastery nor finishes in Bajina Bašta. The courses include technical single-track sections, fast descents, and challenging climbs, with final sections suited to a strong finish. Several race categories, including U18, focus on mountain terrain and natural beauty; the event is organized by regional and local mountaineering and sports organizations.
